World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a method to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type it could raise an item's Mark level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.

Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specific amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's stats base increase when it is upgraded. This value is the sum of all of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades to items can be costly, dependent on the upgrader and what kind of upgrade you decide to perform. This is due to the variety of perks that must be changed in order to upgrade an item.

It can also be used as a gating requirement when queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It is also used to limit how much PvP gear players are able to wear, since PvP is limited at lower levels. The average item level can be found in the character sheet.

When deciding to purchase or sell equipment players can evaluate the item level. It's a measure of the damage and quality. The item level can also be used to evaluate items when examining the inventory of a vendor.

The level of the item level upgrade can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the item's full description, including ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are several theories about how the calculation of an item's level is made. One theory suggests that the level of an item is calculated by a formula that calculates how valuable an item's stats actually are. It takes into account the fact that different perks have different values and that sockets have gems that increase the overall value of the item. This process can result in a calculated amount for the item's ilvl which is usually close to Blizzard's real item level.

However, this isn't the only factor which determines the ilvl of an item, because the level of the area the item is dropped into can change the value of its stats, for example by adding a level to its haste rating or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have more value than items dropped in lower-level instances.

Item Stats

The stats of an item are a major element in what makes or breaks an item for players. The game uses them in a variety of ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to one weapon and to encourage players to experiment with other weapons. The base stats on a weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat mods that are in turn boosted by the player's level.

Upgrades to an item may boost its stats. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item. For example, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, while an item upgrader kit with the rare tiers will be upgraded several times, at higher costs.

Affixes can also be used to change an item's stats. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and they come in all sizes and shapes. The affixes can be used to give items additional damage, special capabilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs), or to make them unique by adding a name.

Currently, all affixes can be rerolled by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button with circles arrows. This procedure will cost the player a certain amount of gold and items which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as other rerolling options.

In addition to rerolling affixes, players can select which of the available stats to be kept on an item after it is upgraded. The possible ranges of stats for an item are based on the level of the item, but all items are guaranteed to have at minimum one stat within the specified range, unless it's a unique item or a God roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could be changed is the possibility of upgrading equipment without having to roll the affixes, or choose which stats to boost. But, like base equipment, this would need to be carried out on a per-item basis, and the item compare interface would not display all the possible stats gained or lost at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player increases the probability of obtaining items, the properties that are generated by loot, and the strength of these properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or ability to upgrade items. It provides players with the chance to upgrade gear earlier in the game. This is particularly advantageous in early game runs since players tend to prioritize weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the probability of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade probability, which increases with each level of the item and can be further increased by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor and weapons have the default Luck value of 40. These items can then be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to grant an additional +40 Luck or to boost the Luck of the item up to 140.

Certain items, such as the weapon with Hollow-infused components can also be crafted to increase the damage of any skill that causes damage by 5percent. These items can be purchased at the store or crafted using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items are expensive and not all upgrades will succeed. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chance of success of an upgrade or to stop players from losing their item in the event that it is not successful.

When you upgrade an item, the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successfully upgrading the item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special materials. There are limitations on how much the success rates can be improved and the chance of an upgrade item failing cannot exceed 100%.

The performance of an can be affected by the Luck of that item. Each item has an overall success rate of 25 percent and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by five percent.

The item upgrade overlays are rendered above items in the inventory. This may block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the item upgrader (click to investigate) CORE client config.
