Guide To Item Upgrades: The Intermediate Guide To Item Upgrades
Path of Exile Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a common and important way to improve the performance of a variety of items in Path of Exile. They can be a great source of additional damage or more AD or even more attachments.
Rare-grade equipment can be superior to upgraded Common or Magic equipment due to their higher requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades are a form of upgrade that can be applied to weapons and armor items. They increase the effectiveness of the item they are connected to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of the game and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. Alternately, they can be salvaged from items with upgrade components in them using a specialist or more powerful salvage kit.
The amount of damage that an armored item Upgrade or weapon is able to absorb is dependent on the extent of its upgrades. Upgrading a piece of armor to the highest upgrade level will increase its damage absorption. However, it's important be aware that this upgrade will increase its weight, which will cause it to be heavier than before.
There are a variety of armor upgrade available in the game. Each has a different effect. For example, some upgrades give the armor a certain amount of additional health points, while others make it stronger and lighter. The type of armor upgrade that an item will receive will be indicated by the name of the upgrade, as indicated in the table below.
Some of the upgrades also require magic or a combination of technology and magic, which is indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Certain upgrades require charges for use. These are identified as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are updated daily or never expire, depending on the upgrade.
Iron Ore is the cheapest option to improve your armor. It can be found by exploring and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive however, it is available at the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant boost in stats, and are definitely worth the investment.
The process of upgrading an armor piece to its maximum upgrade level will significantly increase its defense values, but the player should be aware that increasing its weight will dramatically reduce its agility and speed. It is not recommended to upgrade items armor past +9. The added defense usually isn't worth the weight and power cost of the upgrades.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades let players increase the effectiveness of certain aspects of a weapon. For example, an upgrade may increase the damage dealt by the shells of a shotgun or the accuracy of the rifle that snipes. Some weapons also have special enhancements that enhance their intrinsic qualities. These include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and reduces the risk of overheating of the weapon) and Kinetic Coils (increases projectile acceleration for more damage).
The majority of upgrades to weapons require a whetblade. It's one of three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. They can be obtained by completing Side Quests or killing a certain amount of monsters and bosses.
To upgrade a weapon, equipment set piece or Whetblade You must go to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a certain number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the higher the number of bars are required to complete it. The cost of the upgrades will be lower if you have more than one of the relevant upgrade materials.
In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and equipment sets has changed. Previously you could search for an Upgrade Bench and pay for a specific number of Bars to upgrade your weapon or equipment to a higher quality. You could continue doing this until you reach a maximum upgrade items level for the weapon or equipment, after which the upgrades would be reset.
It's still possible, but it relies heavily on RNG. You should consider buying equipment that has low upgrade levels and high base scores and stat distributions. They will also have a chance at gaining you the most prestigious benefits and blessings.
Most players will want to make the most of upgrades to weapons they are most likely to use to allow them to progress quicker. In addition, players should consider upgrading the weapons that are most popular with their teammates to make them more powerful and effective. Shepard for instance should upgrade his M92F so that he can unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more useful when accompanied with biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to increase the stats of a character or to provide additional effects in armor and weapons. Jewelry crafting is a method of making them, in which you combine a gemstone with a number specific reagents on a table. The higher the grade of the gemstone, the better the secondary effect. These reagents are obtained in the world through Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and, sometimes, by salvaging Legendary equipment. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.
The quality of a gem can be improved at the Jeweler, with stages that vary from Crude to Royal. The boosts to stats will differ depending on the tier the jewel is in when it's slotted into weapons, jewelry, or gear.
The Jeweler is able to create all tiers of gems, with the exception of rare and legendary ones that require certain levels to gain. Like other upgrade components jewels can be swapped with another identical jewel without destroying the original one. However it is only possible to replace a jewel in an equipment piece only once.
It is typical to use more jewels to enhance the appearance of. The jewels also improve performance and create a surface harder than steel, so that the repeated friction caused by pivots does not cause damage to them.
A Glyphmaster can offer glyphs to improve the look of your weapons and shields. These are a small perk and can be swapped out at any time however they aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs are like jewelry and can be upgraded by the Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Crystals. Glyphs can also be taken out, which returns them to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as traits and aegis, aren't swappable and can only be recovered using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets can be used to give your character a variety of small, but useful, advantages. They can be acquired starting in the beginning areas as loot or personal story rewards from vendors, and through doing road interactions. They may also be crafted by jewelers, and found or purchased on the Trading Post.
The first trinkets that a player is able to unlock is the cloak, which gives an unimportant but beneficial boost to speed of movement and the ability to escape. Then, they can acquire rings, amulets, and necklaces in a similar manner to the way a player obtains weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has one upgrade slot that accepts either a universal or a jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be utilized on any equipment. Jewels are not upgradeable or replaced and only work with certain trinkets.
These trinkets also provide additional bonuses and abilities that are active when the hero is not in combat. This enables the hero to be more effective when not active and also helps to compensate for the absence of a solid team or the absence of any talent tree slots that would normally be filled with the hero's ideal stats.
A good guideline for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best item upgrade-in-Slot) items that you won't be replacing soon, followed by items with desirable stats that are less important than the iLevel of the item that is being upgraded. This is especially true if you're looking to upgrade several statistics on an item. It is more beneficial to upgrade a single important stat instead of two subpar ones.
Jungle players usually upgrade their yellow trinkets to a red trinket at the start of the game. Top and mid players on the other hand, will choose a green or a pink ward, depending on the game's matchup. These choices can affect the hero's ability to manage the map.
In addition to the items listed above, players will find other trinkets that form of trophies and rewards throughout the game. These can be obtained by completing certain milestones in the story. For example, completing the main quest for a chapter or defeating an opponent. These achievements can be seen by selecting the appropriate achievement from the reward tab of the hero menu.
