Nine Things That Your Parent Taught You About Item Upgrader
World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Upgrades to an item are a way to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it can boost the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level and boost additional stats.
Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a certain amount.
Item Level
The value of an item upgrader kit's basic stats increases as it is upgraded. This value is the sum of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades to items can be costly depending on the upgrader and what type of upgrade you choose to do. This is due to the sheer number of perks that have to be changed in order to upgrade an item.
The level of an item is a widely used measure of power, and can be found on all tooltips of items. It is also used to limit how much PvP gear players can wear, since PvP is limited at a lower level. The average level of the item is listed on the character sheet.
Using the item level can help players evaluate the power of equipment when they decide to buy or sell. It's a useful gauge of an item's worth and how much damage it is able to deal. The level of the item can be used to evaluate items when evaluating the inventory of a vendor.
On PC, you can view the item level using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the full item description, including its level. It can also be found by hovering an item with the mouse cursor and entering /itemlevel into chat.
There are a variety of theories on how the item level is calculated. One theory suggests that the level of an item is determined by an equation that determines how valuable an item's stats really are. It takes into consideration that different advantages are valued differently and that gems in sockets boost the value of the item. This process can result in a calculated amount for the item's level, which is typically close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.
This isn't the only thing that affects the ilvl of an item. The level of the area where the item was dropped may change its stats. For example it can increase the item's haste or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have more ilvl than those from lower-level instances.
Item Stats
The item upgrader kit's stats can make or break an item for players. The game makes use of them in various ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to a single weapon and to encourage players to experiment with other weapons. The stats of a base weapon are enhanced by the weapon's stat modifications which are then boosted by the player's level.
Item upgrades add to that by increasing certain stats on the item. The rarity of an item determines its cost of upgrading. For example, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, while an item with rare tiers can be upgraded many times at higher prices.
Another method to alter the stats of an item is by affixing it. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and they come in all shapes and sizes. The affixes can provide the item additional damage, or add a unique ability to the item (such as reviving the dead or cutting down the duration of cooldowns) or make the item unique by giving a special name to the item upgrade.
At present, all affixes can be changed by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button with circles arrows. This process will cost the player a specific amount of gold as well as items that can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other rerolling options.
In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may select which of the available stats to keep on an item after it is upgraded. The possible stat ranges of an item are based on the level of the item, but all items are guaranteed to have at least one stat within the specified range, unless it's an exclusive item or the result of a God roll from a boss in a raid.
Another thing that could be changed is the possibility of upgrading equipment without having to roll the attachments, or pick which stats to increase. Like the base equipment, this must be done per item and the interface for item comparison would not display all the possible stats simultaneously.
Item Luck
A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the odds of finding items and the properties that are spawned from loot drops and the intensity of the properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players a chance to upgrade their gear in earlier waves and is thus more useful in the initial game run than in later ones, because most players value more powerful weapon scaling and defenses over raw damage gains.
Luck can also increase the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chances, which increase with each new level of item. These can also be increased by using anti-materials such as a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Weapons, shields, and armor can spawn or be crafted by using the Luck property, which has a default value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on their material type) to add another 40 luck or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140.
Certain items, such as the weapon with Hollow-infused components can also be crafted to increase the damage dealt by any ability that is able to deal damage by 5percent. These items are available from the shop, or they can be crafted using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Item upgrades are expensive and not all upgrades will succeed. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chance of success of an upgrade or to stop players from losing their item in the event that it is not successful.
When you upgrade an item the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of completing the upgrade successfully and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to how much the success rates can be improved and the probability of an upgrade failing can't exceed 100%..
The success of an item can be affected by the luck of that item. All items have a success rate of 25 percent, and every item with Luck increases this chance by 5percent.
Note that item upgrades are rendered above the inventory items therefore enchantment glints and other effects can be obstructed by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
