20 Things You Must Know About Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Level Upgrade Upgrader
Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.
The upgraded gear typically has a higher trade value, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect model.
Recycle Points
The Best item upgrader upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and is accessible anytime to upgrade your gear. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.
Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item, however, they are always cheaper than purchasing new gear. For example upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are useful items that can be used to level up weapons and tools, armor and other accessories. They can be purchased from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any weapon, tool or armor. button, which will display an image of the item level upgrade when it is upgraded in the event that the player has enough materials.
Upgrade costs vary depending on the item slot, and the current level of the item. For instance, weapons will cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades offer discounts on Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.
Upgraders for items can be found in many places, including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and a chance to acquire a new upgrade item recipe. The discount for upgrades increases with the number of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are available only through a variety means. This is both a benefit and a drawback.
In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a specific level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading additional items to that level will cost less even in the event that they are part of an entirely different set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is available across all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievements.
Crests
Players have several options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.
The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be used on equipment that is of a particular rank, and each rank has its own requirements for upgrading. The most basic and straightforward upgrade item path costs 15 crests, while the most complicated may require as many as 20 crests based on the type of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing content of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons of all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader for the item such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.
Utilizing these new currencies isn't that difficult, but the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. Once a piece of gear has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to get their gear up to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.
It's also essential to use crests in a wise manner, as they are only used for one purpose. For instance, it's a good idea use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning on making. This is especially applicable to rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character that will be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all slots are filled with high-quality equipment.
