This change is intended to allow players to get their gear up to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests in a wise manner, as they are only used for one purpose. For instance, it's a good idea use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning on making. This is especially applicable to rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character that will be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all slots are filled with high-quality equipment.
