Upgrades to gear increase its base stats and sometimes boosts its extras. The worth of these upgrades is determined by the levels of gear, their requirements, and the number of random augmentations are applied.
The most powerful racial Shield Razortail for instance, is usually upgraded to improve its lightning absorption function in PvP, and/or to add additional defenses to missile-based build in the PvM. This makes it more tradeable than the un-upgraded version.
Reroll Tokens
Reroll tokens permit you to roll a purchased item like an armor, weapon or ring. The item is replaced by another item of the same type however with different benefits. Reroll tokens can be a cost-effective option to upgrade equipment. However, they do not retain the quality of the original Best item upgrade and any resources wasted won't be compensated for.
Reroll tokens can be obtained by survivors by a variety of means such as the Mistery Box or as rare drops from skulled creatures. They can also be found in crates and chests or bought at the local store at a cost of 150k each. Reroll tokens are used to alter the attribute of an item of equipment for example, increasing the damage it can cause.
Players can roll their equipment using three categories: physical power, magic power, and health. Upgrades to physical power boost the damage of melee and weapons attack, while upgrades to spell power boost mage attacks and the ring. Health upgrades provide the player with additional health.
There are three types of Reroll tokens: upgrade rare, and legendary. Each of these upgrades an item to a higher-quality and requires a higher-level reroll token in order to create it. To upgrade gear, the player must first locate the item then click the "level up button". This will display a list of the item's level, and what it will be after being upgraded. It will also display the amount of Growth Stones required to upgrade the item. The amount of Growth Stones required to upgrade the gear will depend on its rarity. Rare (blue), rarer weapons will require more than one Growth Stone, while uncommon armor only requires one Growth Stone.
Once they have decided on the upgrade, players must then select the number of green Growth Stones they wish to utilize and pay the appropriate cost. Once the requirements are satisfied, the user can then click on the upgrade button to apply the Growth Stones to the item. This will raise the item's level by a specific percentage. The upgrade process can take anywhere from seconds to several minutes, based on the rarity of the item.

Leveling
Leveling is a feature that lets players boost the base stats of weapons armor, helms and trinkets. It is achieved by combining an item with upgrades at the Upgrade Station and paying a cost of Happy Stars or Happy Tickets. The upgrade components will be consumed and the item will be upgraded to an upgrade to a higher level. The process will continue until the item reaches its highest level.
Items with upgraded stats will have an icon of blue next to their slot. Contrary to enchantments upgrade components do not stack with each other, but can only be added to one item at a time. Furthermore each upgrade component will require a particular amount of items to be applied and an initial amount for the equipment.
The Upgrade Station comes with two slots: the first is where players can place a piece of equipment to be upgraded, and the right side shows a glimpse of what the equipment will look like once it is at its next level. Pressing the yellow arrow when a player has sufficient materials will begin the upgrade process.
A piece of gear can be upgraded a maximum of five times. Each time it is upgraded, the stats of the base item upgrade will be increased by only a tiny amount. The maximum level for an item is 19.
When an item is at its maximum level, it will no longer have the option of upgrading. When an item attains a certain upgrade track (e.g. Upgrades for the Veteran or Explorer track will be discounted.
Upgrade components are a form of equipment that can slot into weapons, armors trinkets, gathering tools and other trinkets in order to provide an additional benefit or bonus when the equipment is in use. They can be bought from vendors, looted, acquired by completing quests or traded between players. Upgrade components can be replaced by new ones, but doing so will destroy the previous upgrade, except for glyphs which can be removed and replaced at will.
Requirements

Once an upgrade component has been placed in an item it can't be removed and replaced freely, however, glyphs placed in gathering tools can be swapped out without restriction.
The upgrade of an item can boost its Mark Level and/or Rarity. Additionally, some upgrade components include additional modifiers that could further improve the item's stats.
For example, the helm upgrade "Foundation of the Sun" boosts the base defense, and adds an extra 20% chance of blocking. In addition, the dps upgrade "Wildfire" increases damage to weapons.
Upgrades can be beneficial for certain items, but they are not because they boost stats. They are more valuable for the players if they can get an exact roll. A perfectly rolled 200/6500 armor set piece, for example, is highly valued by melee PvP communities and could be worth up to 20-50 times that of the unupp'd version.
The game will display the requirements once you choose the upgrade item component that is incorporated into the item. The game will show the required requirements when you select an upgrade component to slot into an item.
